Review:

Karen Grey is at it again. She's delivered a laugh out loud book with feels for miles.

Avery is fighting to save her mother's program at the Parks and Rec department. But when Josh comes in she's not sure if she should hate him, or jump him. It's not until she meets the real him (the one with kids and a life) instead of the work him that she realizes that she's craving for more, with him.

This book had me laughing, crying, and longing for more. When they are forced to go to a work retreat together and have to share one bed... (love that trope) that they both realize that this could be more.

Grayson Owens and Carly Robins did a good job narrating this audiobook.

Audre has the hardest choice to make - deal with the luck that has handed her, or allow the problem to take over the good that could become out of her summer. Audre feels, I think, that life has let her down. She's become second fiddle to both of her parents' new children and feels like they've pushed her to the side. When her best friend suggests she hang out with someone who can help her learn what the real deal is about being a kid in the summer, she turns to Bash. The boy that everyone has something to say about, but are the things they say true, or just fabrications?

When Audre comes to Bash asking him to be her fun consultant, he's taken aback. What could someone like him be able to teach someone like her? Yes, she's pretty, yes, she's got her head on her shoulder, but there's something about the things she wants to do that pull him in, wanting to help for the sake of spending more time with her.

This book took a turn toward the end that really shook me. I'd like to say that Tia Williams is a master of showing how generations of women can hide what they call a curse in order to break the cycle that has been passed down from generation to generation. Ms. William's characters are real, heartbreaking, and emotionally aware.

I'd also like to commend the narrators for doing an exceptional job. Jordan Cobb and Torian Brackett - bravo!

My life has always been such a clownish mess. Still, nothing beats old Mrs. Janey leaving her silly parrot a vast percentage of her establishment, worth billions. Now the bird, Boosh, is a billionaire! Hilarious, right? For goodness, flipping, sake! Who does that?

 

Want to know my part in this story? I'm to be Boosh's guardian, because how else does a parrot get to be assured of its newfound wealth without a human in the picture? Don't get me wrong, I'm flattered but not flattered that Mrs. Janey saw me fit enough to be part of this absurd scheme.

 

Do you know what's crazier, though? Getting Mrs. Janey's grandson, Craig Vans, out of the way. Before I tell you about the man's overwhelming god-like looks, I will give you a glimpse of why he's so upset in the first place. Craig has always had his way, including the multiple chains of companies in his name. He was more prosperous than anyone in New York, so why wouldn't he step down as the CEO and leave just this one establishment to the poor birdy Boosh?

 

The glaring answer was that Craig Vans was so full of himself ... well, the truth is that he had every right to be. The first day I met him, I wanted to forget my panties on his face. Want to know more? Read on.

Review:

I'm going to be honest, I'm not quite sure what to think of this book. I want to love it, I really do, but I felt like I was dropped into the middle of a story that was going on long before the story even started. I craved for a little more interaction than was given. I get the hate banging and everything, but... I just felt there could have been a little more meat to the book. And then the cliffhanger? I don't mind a cliffhanger normally, but in a book this short it was just unexpected.

The narration was okay, but nothing to write home about. I'm not sure if the narrator was from a non-US based country but some of the pronunciations were a little "off". There were times when I wondered if the narrator was actually AI.
